CYPRUS BRIDGE FEDERATION

Profile

We have information that a form of Bridge was introduced and played in Cyprus in the early 20 th Century. After World War II, Bridge became popular, and this resulted in 1960, in the establishment of the Cyprus Bridge Federation (CBF).

The aims of CBF are the regulation and promotion of the game of Bridge in Cyprus. Also the organisation of the representation of Cyprus Bridge in the international arena.

CBF aims to introduce Bridge in schools and colleges as it believes that Bridge, as an intellectual game, has a valuable educational merit. CBF, in its effort to develop its future international players, is prepared to subsidise young Cypriots who wish to learn the game.

The Cyprus Sports Association, of which CBF is a member, has given its support in many ways. This support enables the CBF to organise International Bridge Festivals as well as  represent Cyprus in International Tournaments.

Member clubs have been established in most major towns of Cyprus and recently in the beautiful village of Lefkara, where Bridge is becoming very popular. Details and addresses of member Clubs can be found under the heading of Clubs.
